Biography Summary
Dr. Segarra is a Full Professor of Materials Science and Metallurgical Engineering in the Department of Materials Science and Physical Chemistry at the University of Barcelona.She is a member of the research group Centre for Process and Materials Design and Optimization (DIOPMA), where she served as director from 2003 to 2014. The group has been recognized as a consolidated research group by the Government of Catalonia (2021SGR708) and is part of the TECNIO network. DIOPMA has extensive experience in technology transfer, mainly to SMEs, as reflected in 22 licensed patents in which she has been a co-author. The group’s objective is to help companies overcome present and future challenges by innovating, improving their products, or optimizing their manufacturing technology. The group has received the Antoni Caparrós Award for the best University-Industry technology transfer project four times (2009, 2012, 2014, and 2018), granted by the Social Council of the University of Barcelona and the Bosch i Gimpera Foundation.

She has held several leadership positions at the University of Barcelona, including Secretary of the Department of Materials Science and Metallurgical Engineering (2005-2010), Director of the same department (2010-2013), Coordinator of the Master’s Degree in Energy Engineering (2007-2010), Secretary of the Study Council for the Bachelor’s Degree in Materials Engineering, and Vice Dean of Research and Technology Transfer at the Faculty of Chemistry (2017-2021).
