Graduate in Chemical Engineering from the University of Barcelona (2015–2019) and holder of a Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering (2019–2021) from the same institution.While completing her master’s degree, she collaborated on a research project that inspired her to pursue a PhD. Within the PhD Programme in Engineering and Applied Sciences at the University of Barcelona, Verónica Aguilar completed her doctoral research (2022–2025, FI Fellowship) focused on nutrient recovery from municipal wastewater using industrial by-products.

This research is framed within the fields of environmental engineering, materials science and circular economy, with the aim of promoting waste valorisation and improving the sustainability of wastewater treatment processes. Her work contributed to advancing resource recovery strategies and fostering more sustainable approaches in municipal wastewater management.
