Biography Summary
I am a researcher since 2005 of the Center for the Design and Optimization of Processes and Materials (DIOPMA) located at the Department of Materials Science and Physical Chemistry at the Universitat de Barcelona (UB). The Master Degree was directed by Dr. A.I. Fernández, and it was entitled «Evaluation of a low content magnesium hydroxide as a flame retardant in EVA». Later, in 2006, I started my PhD in DIOPMA under the supervision of Dr. J.M. Chimenos (UB) and Dr. A. M. Lacasta from Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC). The PhD is entitled Formulations of new mortars and special cements based on magnesium by-products was presented in 2012. Thus, the beginning of my research activity was in the construction materials field using industrial magnesium by-products. At the same time, I also participated in different national and regional public projects, as well as projects with companies about the environmental technology, construction materials, pavement development, recycling, revaluation of by-products and waste inertisation. On these topics I have supervised different Final Degree Projects, Master’s Thesis Projects, PhD, and currently I am supervising 2 more PhD.
The research activity has emerged in 53 articles in indexed journals with an h-index of 21, 3 patents, 60 participations in conferences, including communications and posters (national and international level). I participated in more than 20 public administration grants: 5 national projects (2 as co-Principal Investigator (P.I.)), 2 international projects, and several regional grants. I would like to highlight that I was P.I. of 1 national project and 1 on-going, as well as 10 projects with companies. I have 1240 citations and an average of 158.6 citation per year during the last 5 years (2018-2022) and 2 research recognized periods. I have supervised 2 doctoral Thesis, and now I am supervising 2 more.
I currently hold the position of Associate Professor in the Department of Materials Science and Physical Chemistry at the UB since 2019 and my research field relays in studies regarding the Magnesium Phosphates cements, and mortars by using different by-products and/or wastes as magnesium source; Waste Incineration, Municipal Solid Waste, Carbonation, and ceramic and building materials characterization.
