Researcher in Sustainable construction materials form industrial byproducts and industrial waste.

I have a Degree in Technical Architecture (EPSEB, UPC, Catalunya) with an exchange year in Universidade da Coruña (UDC, Coruña). I also graduated in Materials Engineering (UB, Barcelona) with a six-month exchange in Universidad Complutense (UCM, Madrid). Finally, I held a Master’s in Renewable and Sustainable Energy (UB, Barcelona).

For many years I worked in the field of construction and architecture as a draftsman, project management assistant, and public tender technician. Before my incorporation in DIOPMA, I also worked in Fundació CIM (UPC) as a trainer in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, SketchUp, etc.). Thanks to my experience in these areas, I gained knowledge and expertise in project management, CAD design, and teaching skills, among others.

I joined in DIOPMA in October 2016 as a trainee. Currently, I combine the position as a research assistant with the position of adjunct lecturer in the Materials science and chemistry-physics department. I am about to finish my PhD thesis based on the formulation of alkali-activated binders using bottom ash from municipal waste incineration. This investigation combines the main research that I am involved in, which are the valorisation of waste and by-products and the design of sustainable cement-based materials.

I aspire to develop new sustainable building materials that allow progress towards a circular economy based on the zero-waste principle.
