Dr. Adela Svobodova

Biography Summary

My scientific career began with a Physics diploma at the University of Barcelona (2008), where I developed a growing interest in applied physics and materials science. This led me to continue my studies with a Bachelor’s Degree in Materials Engineering (2012) and later pursue a Master’s in Renewable and Sustainable Energy (2016–2017).

My scientific career continued with collaborations in research groups such as the Intelligent Signal Processing for Sensor Systems in Bioengineering, the Solar Energy Materials and Systems group at IREC, and DIOPMA, where I focused on materials for renewable energy. In 2018, I started my PhD on thermal energy storage materials for solar concentration plants at the University of Barcelona, obtaining my doctorate in 2022. Parallel to my research, I worked as an X-ray diffraction technician at CCiT-UB (2017–2019), gaining expertise in structural characterization. In 2022, I was awarded a postdoctoral contract at the Public University of Navarre within a European project (ERA-MIN3) on sustainability and circular economy in the aluminum industry.

Since 2018, I have been involved in teaching at the Faculty of Chemistry, primarily in the Materials Engineering degree. I was an Associate Professor at the University of Barcelona from 2021 to 2024 and became a Lecturer Professor in 2025.
