Biography Summary

The beginning of my research activity was in the topic of kinetics of processes during my PhD. Furthermore, during my post-doc in Diopma group, I have participated in several projects on the topics of recycling, reuse of by-products and waste valorisation. On this subject, I have supervised two PhD thesis on polymer composites and several BSc projects. In 2008, I started the research line of materials for thermal energy storage in the group, participating in several R&D projects at national, regional and international level as well as projects with industry.

On this research topic, I have supervised 9 doctoral theses and 3 more on going, as well as several BSc and MSc projects. The research activity has led to 170 articles in indexed journals, 15 patents and more than 100 participations in conferences. I’ve been awarded twice as PI for the best technology transfer project by the board of Trustees of the University of Barcelona.

My research interests are broad as I am interested in materials’ performance and durability in harsh environments, and the sustainable aspects of materials uses. The beginning of my teaching activity was in 2000, and since then I have teached different subjects in the Chemistry, Physics, Chemical Engineering and Materials Engineering Bachelor Degrees. I got an associate profesor position in 2006 and became Professor in 2020. Mentoing and supervisor activities are an essential part of my work.

I was the head of studies for the degree in Materials Engineering at the UB from January 2006 until last July 2018, and delegate of the Rector for knowledge transfer from 2018 to 2020. Since 2021 I am the coordinator of the doctoral program Engineering and Applied Sciences at UB. I am director of the Diopma Reseach group since November 2019, with the responsibility of representing a multidisciplinary research group, with diverse infrastructure and scientific interests and with a common goal which is to train professionals and researchers in materials science and technology and to transfer knowledge and technology to society and industry.
