Kaolinite structural modifications induced by mechanical activation

Publication Highlights

  1. Mechanical activation strongly modifies kaolin’s structure.
  2. X-ray diffraction reference intensity ratio is useful to monitor the activation effect.
  3. Amorphization is assessed with transmission electron microscopy selective area electron diffraction.
  4. The hydroxyls are separated from the structure and the chemical bonds are weakened.
  5. The presence of water formed through hydroxyls reaction is confirmed.
