Pre-doctoral Researcher
Researcher in Sustainable Construction Materials. Waste and byproducts valorization
I am currently doing my PhD in Materials Science and Engineering, developing and formulating sustainable cement and mortars, promoting the circular economy.
Since I was a child, I have always been very curious about the world around us. As I grew up, new questions arose within me. That curiosity led me to become a materials engineer, acquiring a wide understanding of polymers, metals, and ceramics. This knowledge ranges from its structure, composition and characterization to its production processes, transformation, treatments and various properties.
To expand my knowledge regarding the subject of sustainability and circular economy and I managed to obtain the Master in Renewable Energies and Energy Sustainability.
Later, I entered the world of research starting my doctorate, with the aim of developing new, more sustainable materials, recycling and valorising different waste and by-products for the production of construction materials such as cement and mortars.
During my PhD, I developed autonomy and resilience skills, very important regardless of the professional sector. I discovered my passion for R + D + i. My laboratory labours helped me to expand skills such as multitasking, critical vision, scientific reasoning, data analysis and writing scientific publications.
I also worked on technical and responsibility skills, being the technician responsible for thermogravimetric analysis (TGA, TGA-SDT) with combined calorimetry (DSC) in DIOPMA. Likewise, I gained experience using various techniques for the physicochemical characterization of materials, among others:
️TGA – Thermogravimetric Analysis
️DSC – Differential Scanning Calorimetry
️PSD – Particle Size Distribution
️FRX – X-ray Fluorescence
️DRX – X-ray Diffraction
️IR – (FTIR-ATR) – Infrared spectroscopy
️SEM – Scanning Electron Microscopy
️Mechanical tests
️LCA – Product life cycle analysis/assessment, Product eco-audit
